interview with HENTGARM

interview with france black metal band.

BAND LINKS:

BandCamp

1.Can i get a backstory on the band/ band biography?

Hentgarm started in 2011 as a project of me (Mörski, guitar and vocals) and MLG (drummer). Vrath quickely joined the band as lead guitar then we started to write some songs together. The band was finaly complete when Örm joined Hentgarm in 2012. In fact, me, Vrath and Örm initialy played together in the same band : Kerifern.

2.What lyrical theme do you guys use in your music? What message do you want to send?

Our goal isn't to send out a message, our music is about expressing what we feel. It's hard to explain with few words what we want to say... But to make it simple we mostly talk about despair, hatred and misanthropy.

3. What bands have influenced your band and its sound?

There's not only one composer in Hentgarm and we all have different tastes in music. If we have to chose some bands it could be Drudkh, Taake and old Marduk.

4. Do you remember your first show and what was it like?

We didn't do any shows with Hentgarm yet, but I'm really looking forward to the first one that will hopefully be very soon. All of us have stage-experience with other bands but we're really excited to start the shows at the beginning of 2014.

5.What made you guys decide to form a band?

I met MLG at a show where we played with our other bands, then we started to talk about our common tastes in Black Metal. That's how we decided to form a band.

6.How do you guys feel about the classifications in metal? like deathcore, metalcore and other subgenres and how some get a negative rep.

I don't really care about the other subgenres of Metal. I think it's not possible to compare Black metal and Metalcore for exemple. Also i don't care about the Metal reputation.

7. What song do you enjoy playing the most?

Personally, it's “And When the Sun Goes” because it's a really epic song. The kind of stuff i really like in Black Metal.

8.When not doing things with the band, what can you guys be seen doing?

All of us have other bands so music takes a large part of our life. But when we're not doing music stuff you could probably see us drinking some pints of beer in a bar !

9. What can the fans expect to see from you in the future?

We're actually working on some songs and we planned to release a split or a demo at the end of 2014. We will also do as much shows as we can !
